4 Month Check Up

Well, I'm officially four months old. I currently weigh 15.1 lbs and I'm 26" tall. That puts me in the 50th and 75th percentile, respectively. I'm growing like a champ! Still have some colicky days, but seems like things things are mellowing out. Still going with my mommy to work most days, but I usually have one day during the week that I hang out with my daddy. I'm smiling a lot, except never for the black thing my parents keep pointing in my face, and I'm starting to giggle, which has lead to some 'startling moments' because I realize the sound is coming from me. I have started drooling a ton, so my mommy says I will soon start getting teeth. I have no interested in eating anything that can't be delivered to me through that bottle thing.
My favorite part of the day is still tubby time where I still sometimes fall asleep, and because I'm a rockstar I'm sleeping through the night.
All and all things are going well.

Three Months Old!

Well, there hasn't been much to post lately. As many of you know, I'm a colicky baby. This has lead us to not doing much, but I'm happy to report that I'm officially three months old! Big boy! The following link has a pretty good explanation (and picture) of what true 'colic' babies are all about. Thankfully, it seems that maybe, just maybe there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel.
It is funny the things that people tell you cause colic and even funnier are people's suggestion for 'cures'. Trust me when I say that if there were a 'cure', millions of babies born each year, and their parents would not suffer through weeks, days and hours of crying.

I'm starting to smile and even laugh all the time at my family and different people I meet. I'm still going with my mommy to work part-time, and I'm becoming quite the chunky monkey!
I think my true personality is really starting to come out.....stay tuned...I have a feeling some very cool baby posts are just around the corner.

Eight Week Check-up

Today I went to the doctor for my 8-week checkup and first round of vaccinations. I can't believe I have all ready been around for 8 whole weeks. I weighted in at 11.9lbs (50 percentile) and was 23.25 inches long. I'm doing well and the doctor seemed very happy as he shined bright lights in my ears, eyes and mouth. He even just held me for a minute while he talked with my parents. I do have a bit of reflux which is super common in babies, but it causes me to 'spit up' a lot of my dinner which burns my tiny throat and makes me cry. I have been a not so happy camper the last few weeks, but I am gaining weight which is a great sign that the reflux isn't to terrible...tell my throat that doc! Anyway, my parents got some great tips on how to handle me during and after feedings, positioning my crib mattress and changing pad and a new formula to try with my mommy's breast milk. Even with being in a little bit of discomfort, I'm still a happy baby and enjoy being on my stomach to play, smiling some and of course sleeping! We go back to the doctor in another eight weeks.

Funny Picture

Here I am sleeping, minding my own business and my mommy is snapping away. Finally I put my hands up in a pose that could be captioned 'No More Pictures Please' or 'Don't Mess With the 8-Week Old Ninja Warrior'.

Baby on Board at the Nevada State Health Division

My mommy has decided to return to work a couple days a week, and I'm going with her! The Nevada State Health Division started a pilot program for new mothers to bring their babies to work for the first six months, so if all goes well, I can hang out with my mommy till June 1. Our first day was a little rough with my mommy trying to get stuff set up, but after one fairly brief meltdown, I crashed out for a couple of hours. Their are four other babies in the building with me, and everyone seems to be doing okay with this new pilot project. People seem to respond well to me with lots of smiles and goo goo, ga ga's. I'm slightly overwhelmed with the harsh lighting and new faces, but I'm sure I will adjust quickly.
